actually words can be a source of great comfort to many.
for example the truth the WT brings (or brought) concerning the end of the world in 1914, 1925, 1975, or "real soon now." the rest of the world may consider such "truths" as bullshit, but millions of brain dead JW wouldnt. but one mans truth is another mans shit.

for example i know kingdom halls, assembly halls, and district conventions all serve shit...and from you response..i can conclude.. you dont consider the spiritual food at these places shit....

Jehovah God running short on Cash???

the wt in the past stated that "if the time came when we are running short on cash god wants us to pack up shop".

well it looks like when wt is running short on case and who does wt turn to--is it jehovah- o no they turn to the world.

Actually the reason that Jehovah God is running short of cash is that in the US only 5% of JW's have a college education. Opening the doors to college solves nothing, since college is a catch-22 for WT.

Educated dubs leave and the uneducated don't earn enough to donate anything.

That right there is why Jehovah has a case of the "shorts" lately.

Well, they must be hurting financially. I remember 4-5 years ago, there was talk about big time expansion at Kingdom Farm in Lansing, NY. Hundreds of Bethelites were to be moved to the area. WT was going to (or actually did) pay lots of $$$ to upgrade the town's sewer system to handle all the new expansion. Bought the town a fire truck too.

My dad is actually good friends with the old overseer at Kingdom Farm. Real nice guy, but has lost touch with the outside world. So, the source is valid. Then, the project quietly died.

almost all of the US growth is supposedly among foreign language groups. Spanish and Chinese groups are supposedly growing like wildfire.

Actually William, the reason for this growth is that the "lowly foreigner" is actually looking for an oppurtunity to practice their English. The "Bible Study" is actaully nothing but a free English lesson for them. Locally, have seen this happen quite often, especially among Chinese students at the local university. They accept Bible study, learn some English, and then (fortunately) drop the study before getting sucked in.

Have heard of similar experiences with other groups. The foreign language speakers in the US are generally looking for any help learning English they can get. And what better way then a free lesson from a witness.

just curious, how many years ago was this? that makes the WT parking ticket scam look like small potatoes. They moan and groan about how many dubs only going 2 days instead of 3 to the DC, or skip altogether. But, for someone that has to travel that cuts the convention cost by 50% (1 night instead of 2), or by 100% for the latter.

The sad part is the $9,500,000 the poor dubs have to spend so the WT saves $17,500. Rooms and restaurants for 3 days add up, especially if you have a family.

That always galled me. It's just a crass way to increase WT profits by putting the screws to a local governement. Happened where I am locally. DC site has bounced around between 2 cities (about 70 miles apart) for the last 10 years. Instead of having DC's in both cities, WT lumps us all together for negotiating leverage. If the message is SO lifesaving, why do they try to maximize their $$$$ margin so much?

The return on that $9.5 mill investment for the dubbies: a little closer to purchasing Week 53 of their timeshare.

I Don't Sympathise With Suicides

let me explain.. firstly i have seen any number of so-called attempted suicides.

i've walked past an old girl friends house, seen her watching tv through the window, by the time i'm knocking on the door she's told me that she had her head in the gas oven and my knock stopped her.. my mother in law walks into the sea for a pastime.

every time she can't get her own way she walks in up to her knees and waits for someone to see her.

well, maybe not. you have to wrap your lips around the WHOLE tailpipe, not just half of it. like a bottle of pills, 1/2 a pipe does 1/2 a job.
